About

Druimneil House is nestled within the picturesque Appin countryside. With views overlooking Loch Linnie and surrounded by its award-winning garden, this property is an idyllic spot for nature lovers and all who can appreciate beauty.

About the House

Built in the 1850s by a Scottish merchant who traded in the West Indies, this house is the middle of three constructed within the village. A classic Victorian build with three beautifully designed rooms. The main room features a gorgeous four-poster bed with two further twin rooms. Druimneil House can hold up to 6 guests at any one time. The grounds also feature a self-catering cottage for guests who wish to operate on their schedule and take in the estate at their leisure. With Wi-Fi available, you will still have modern life at your fingertips.

Garden & Catering

The award-winning garden that surrounds the Druimneil house is a spectacle within itself. Featuring a wide variety of fauna and flora and appearing beautifully regardless of the season, the garden brings nature right to your doorstep. Walking through the grounds transports you back in time to when man and nature were intertwined. Through the seclusion provided by the treeline, this property is a way to escape to nature while still enjoying the benefits of luxury accommodation.

The host provides breakfast, requests are welcomed, and food is served on a long table centred in the dining room. Perfect for getting to know those with whom you share the accommodation or just spending more time with your loved ones. This eating arrangement’s community ambience suits the house ideally; the owner wishes to create an atmosphere where guests build bonds while staying. Dinner can be requested for those lodgers who want to spend their evenings taking in the beauty of the house.

Surrounding area

With the surrounding area’s natural beauty, holiday goers can choose to remain local and take in the scenery or use Druimneil house as a base of operations to explore further afield. With Oban 20 miles to the south, you can access much of the surrounding area as it’s one of the main ferry ports in Argyll. You can experience local craftsmanship in the village by visiting The Lighthouse Craft shop.

Janet’s Insider’s guide to Port Appin and Argyll

You have attractions that cater to all tourists in the more immediate vicinity. With boat hire and sailing opportunities at Airds Bay. You can experience the sea or keep dry and take in the wildlife from afar with the many nature walks on offer, with a chance of seeing both otters and basking sharks on your travels.

You can also take the short journey to the Isle of Lismore and take in the scenery and history of a monastery that dates back to the 6th-century. You can soak in the past on the 10-mile-long island while enjoying a hot drink in the island café.

The Pierhouse Hotel is a popular eatery located 1 mile away from the house. They specialise in locally sourced seafood, working with suppliers of the highest quality.

The Airds Hotel & Restaurant, a self-proclaimed small luxury hotel, is another fantastic option for guests exploring the village for their evening meal. With award-winning food, this is a perfect way to enjoy what Scotland has to offer.

Located 17.1 miles from Druimneil sits Loch Etive; once used to transport tourists toward Glen Coe, the waterway has recently been used more artistically. Featured in the 7th Harry Potter film as part of a daring escape and James Bond’s Skyfall.
